Kim Konikow has a varied background in the arts as a presenter, arts manager and administrator. Her work experience includes Executive Director for The Mesa, an arts & humanities residency center in Southern Utah; Executive Director of the statewide dance service organization Minnesota Dance Alliance; Associate Director of Art Awareness, a performance and residency center in Northern New York; and Director of Special Events for the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York City. Ms. Konikow has served extensively as a site visitor and panelist for several regional, state and national organizations. She holds an MFA in Arts Administration from Brooklyn College/City University of New York.

                SPRINGDALE, UTAH  2000-2004

Executive Director of new arts & humanities residency center located near Zion National Park in Southern Utah. Development and execution of budgetary and funding strategies for facility, programs, operations and endowment; promoted Board development; oversaw eight-month architectural and site re-design with Site Committee and Town Planning Commission; managed administrative staff and volunteers; created and facilitated strategic plan for organization at local, regional and national level; and implemented 11 artistic residencies and over 50 related public outreach programs, including a Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition.

 

                Minnesota Dance alliance

                Minneapolis, mInnesota 1993 – 1995

                        Executive Director for nationally recognized dance service organization whose mission was to support and foster dance arts within the state. Responsible for long-range planning and implementation of presenting series, program activities and services; development and execution of budgetary and funding strategies; maintaining liaisons with the dance, arts and larger communities; and overseeing staff activity.  Spearheaded several national and local projects that continue to broaden the impact of dance within the greater community.

                        Associate Director for multi-arts residency center in the rural Catskills. Responsible for producing summer presentation series including artist negotiations, marketing through seasonal brochure and event production. Implementation of annual campaign with membership drive, events and funding proposals. Supervised volunteer staff.

 

                brooklyn academy of music

                brooklyn, new york 1984 – 1987

                        Director of Special Events for major performing arts institution with $9.2 million operating budget. Responsible for implementation of major fundraising benefits and special events for donors in the public and private sector. Event sizes ranged from 50-2,000 guests.
